I Murdered Mommy(1996)
OverviewTracks

After the successes of their first three CD-ROM projects (Gingerbread Man, Freak Show, and Bad Day on the Midway), The Residents were encouraged by Inscape to produce another follow-up. And so they set to work on the ideas that would form their most ambitious title yet: I Murdered Mommy.

If one were to chart the progression of complexity for each of the previous titles, this latest seems almost a natural successor. Like the others before it, I Murdered Mommy would stretch the capabilities of the format to new limits, and pave the way for further innovation. Alas, the market for computer games shifted to first person shooters, Inscape closed its doors, and the CD-ROM era for The Residents came to an end.

One of the tracks from the proposal was released on the Ralph America website in 1999, and later collected on Dot.Com.

In 2004, more tracks as well as text and images from the I Murdered Mommy proposal were compiled into a special limited release by Ralph America. The CD was re-released by Klangalerie in 2017.
